Derek's feet padded beneath him as he encircled a big track, his breath softly showing since it was early morning. His routine morning run was something that he greatly enjoyed. Every time he inhaled, he couldn't help but take pleasure in the fresh air and the coolness against his bare chest and abdomen. This was a bit like his freedom he supposed, except that he was running around an enclosed track instead of on the street.
To many people, they thought he was a bit crazy for waking up so early to go on a run, but it is not only good for you, it helps wake you up. Plus, if you enjoy something, why give it up to the expense of the opinions of others? Such things like so is what Derek didn't do. He didn't follow others opinions, not that he didn't care about them, but he just has found it easier to go with his own and follow his personal instincts. He's learned that you can't please everyone and to try to do such a thing would be the death of you in the end.
Derek glanced around before looking down at the watch on his wrist and noticed he had been running for an hour. He tended to lose track of time when it came to running because his mind always either wandered or spaced out. He glanced down as a soft glaze of sweat was resting on his well toned chest and abdomen. He stopped and brushed his hands through his spiky blond hair before stretching with a soft moan. "Well, I guess it's time to get ready to train a few people today." He breathed out in a sigh. Sometimes he didn't want to go to work, but he knew he had to.

josephine velpar was many things. she was a teenager, a hunter, as well as a sister, daughter, cousin, niece; you could also label her partier or confusing girl for good mesaure. but on the other hand there where many things joey was not. that list could go on for days but the main thing you need to know is that joey was not a morning person. far from it, in fact, she was those kind of people that could sleep all day. as soon as the sun fell out of sight behind the mountains, trees and sea, she woke up and was ready to go. so you could imagion how hard it was for her to drag herself out of bed, turn on the shower, strip down out of her pajamas, then jump in under the attack of water. good thing the shower helped wake joey up because she needed to be awake today, she had training today.
truth be told joey had training almost everyday... in fact it was like every moment that she was awake was like some kind of hunter/academy test but most of the time josephine would just BS her way around it. nope not today though. today derek sorons was supposed to be the teacher and josephine couldn't miss that. she had a soft spot for the hunter. he was nice and easy on the eyes; unlike some of the the other older hunters. after drying her hair and pulling it back with a hair tie josephine got dressed in some comfy work out clothes and headed out of the dorms to the training grounds. derek wasn't that hard to find. with a body as amazing as that he was hard to miss; plus he was the only one there.
"So are we running today, Sorons?" josephine asked to break the silence as she made her way closer to the other hunter. this totally wasn't fair, derek all shirtless and hot. but hey, joey wasn't going to complain.

Derek wasn't paying attention and soon found someone asking a question. He had been completely oblivious at first, but evidently his mind had caught the question. "No, you are actually quite early though. What's your name?" Derek asked as he watched the young woman approach him. Derek noticed her eyes on him and as much as he loved the attention, he knew it wasn't appropriate for teaching a student. "Pardon me for a moment." He said as he walked towards a bench nearby and pulled a black short sleeved shirt out and pulled it over his head.
Derek was very conscious about teaching younger women and what was appropriate. He liked being noticed by other people, but he also knew that avoiding relationships with his students was the best thing. Sometimes it was hard to avoid some of the tempting offers though. Derek sighed softly as he stared at his bags for a moment wishing he could have a steady relationship he had to worry about instead of work. The problem was finding the right person and often times the relationships headed for the worst.
"Alright, we can start training earlier if you like. We can run if you want. I often give my students a chance to start off a bit easier and we can get to know each other a bit." He said as he walked back towards her. Plus, he would need to find a bit about how she was raised because depending on how much she knows about weapons, he has to either teach her more or less.
Derek sometimes didn't like knowing about weapons because everyone came to him. He was one of the only few in the hunter's academy who could give information about every weapon they have present and some of which they don't. At the same time, he realized it was his power in life because he could use his knowledge to his advantage.

"No, you are actually quite early though. What's your name?" early? josephine was never, ever early. great. now he's going to thing she wanted to be some teachers pet. and thats the last thing she wanted. soon he'd have her running around keeping an eye on every other teenaged hunter to make sure they didn't get in trouble. josephine would fail at that job. "The clocks in the girls dorm must me off then..." now this could or could not be true; joey never checked the clocks in the girls dorm she just didn't want to feel stupid in front of her teacher that day. " and my names josephine velpar" she said forcing a weak smile onto her lips. he could call her whatever he wanted. josephine wasn't really picky on nicknames though she preferred joey.
josephine let her blue eyes scan the floor, well this wasn't awkward or anything. but then derek finally was brave the awkward silence that was starting to settling in. "Pardon me for a moment." the girl nodded as her teacher walked over to the bench and pull a t-shirt on. josephine sighed, of course he was going to put a t-shirt on; it was the 'reasonable' thing to do. teachers were no fun now-a-days or come to think about it they were never fun to begin with.
"Alright, we can start training earlier if you like. We can run if you want. I often give my students a chance to start off a bit easier and we can get to know each other a bit." joey was tempted to say something like 'or we could just wait until training actually starts' because as much as she wanted to kill things and show her worth josephine wasn't one to go out of her way to work. however, after thinking about it for a span of seconds the apprentice figured what the heck, might as well get it over with. running wasn't really her thing, well at least long distance stuff like marathon; she did enjoy sprints and short distance though, but it was a good way to start off. "Running sounds nice, but it looks like you've already done that... Your the teacher here shouldn't you be telling me what to do? "

Derek laughed softly as she said her last words and shook his head. "Listen, that's what all the bad teachers want you to think, but when you study something such as weapon use and techniques on how to kill vampires or supernatural beings, your coach should be interactive. Even if it's something as simple as running. That's one thing you will never see me do, is sitting on the sidelines." Derek said softly as he looked down into her eyes.
"Now, um, we will be running for an hour. Just because I ran for an hour, doesn't mean I can't do one more. One key to being a hunter is having persistence. Sounds kind of gay, but it's the truth." Derek laughed softly as he recalled the first time he heard that. He thought it was something rather stupid sounding and questioned why he was there, but eventually, he found that it was a rather good fact. You sometimes did need good endurance otherwise you might fail at defending yourself and die.
"Okay, shall we?" He asked just in order to make sure she was ready to go. It was a bit of manners he guessed and he wasn't about to be an ass to anyone. It's not how he wanted to be and always has been more like an older brother to those around him.
