I knew I wouldn't forget you, and so I went and let you blow my mind! >>>outfit
Shine sat on a big concrete block, skimming her bare feet against the soft grass which had taken over what used to be asphalt. The faeries were out in a force tonight, and she smiled as they flitted around. Everyone seemed to be in a great mood tonight, she had no idea why, but the feeling was contagious. Someone picked up a guitar and started to play and sing. Shine was a little surprised, faeries usually went for a more morbid sense of music, not the happy, bouncy, upbeat song, that this one was busting out. She knew it, loved it.
Faeries stopped to listen. Shine wondered why humans never got to see this, this sort of happy community thing that the faeries sometimes had. It was like the only thing humans ever got to see were the nasty little pranks they liked to play. Shine could feel the music pulling her to her feet. She laughed out loud and saw her joy echoed on the other's faces. She couldn't help herself. Shine moved over in front of the guitar and danced, just danced, the light material of her dress floating around her. She laughed, so full of everything, magic, joy, life. The other faeries watched her for a moment, before her life just seemed to spread and now they were all dancing, laughing, singing along. Shine spun around, hair flying, singing with the the faerie with the guitar. This was life. [/blockquote]

outfit. It had been almost a week since Seth had seen Shine and he was missing her. He hated admitting that, but he was. He felt lonely. Not even the most attractive human could fill that space that Shine held in his heart. He glared at himself, pulling his jacket on. He was getting desperate to see her. He wasn't even trying to protect himself from the fey anymore. He only wore the minimal amount of steel in his skin, and he was using sterling silver insteaf of surgical steel in the ones on his sides. He even used green ribbon to lace up his corsets. Touching his side, he frowned. What was wrong with him. He used to hide away from the fey, now he was just begging for them to look at him. He could see a pixie out of the corner of his eye sitting on his window sill. It had been sitting there when he got out of the shower, too, watching him dress like an inhuman pervert. He went over to the window and locked it without even looking at the pixie, sprinkling salt on the edge. Something that was second nature to him felt wrong and he closed the curtains, turning away. He grabbed his keys off the dresser, ruffled his slightly damp hair with his hand, and left his room. He practically ran down the stairs, a smile on his lips. His father gave him a look and he frowned. "Going to a friend's house. I'll be back later, 'kay?" His dad shrugged and went back to his newspaper, his sharp features pulling up in a smile. Seth had a feeling he knew where he was going. But he couldn't. It was impossible. His father couldn't see the fey.
Seth hugged his jacket tighter to his body, shoving his keys into one of his pockets. He wished he had a car. He wished he wasn't so confused about what exactly he wanted with Shine. He wished he'd stop looking at the fey. He groaned, making himself look away from two kelpies necking in an alleyway, glass slicing into their feet, making them ooze black blood. He fixed his eyes on his shoes. He wasn't going to look at them anymore. He promised himself that. What about Shine? a little voice in his head chimed. She doesn't count, he answered back, smirking a bit. She was fey, but he couldn't bring himself to want to be away from her. He made his way to where she'd told him she'd be, small chunks of rock, wood, and debris out of his path. The ruins weren't his favorite place to be in. But Shine was his favorite person at the moment, so he was going to put up with it.
It took Seth a moment to hear the music. It was unearthly, past, the embodiment of happiness in music. He stumbled toward the sound, wanting to figure out what it was. As he stepped into the clearing of fey, his eyes wandered until he found the source of music. It didn't hold his gaze for long, his eyes on the dancer. Her hair and dress whipped around her like a flurry. He leaned against a crumbling wall, watching Shine with a grin on his face. She was beyond words. He watches as her body swayed and twisted to the music, only faintly remembering her dancing with him. He'd been so drunk on faerie wine that the first part of that night had been extremely fuzzy. The morning he remembered like it had been just yesterday, and it made a blush come to his cheeks. He smiled at the girl, keeping his eyes only on her, not wanting to test any of the fey around him, his own body swaying a bit to the music, too. It seemed innocent compared to the regular music they played. And none of them had started sticking him with thorns or talons, so maybe this was the Seelie court he was dealing with. They were much milder than the Unseelie court, less dangerous. He smirked. No, they were just as dangerous. They just drove you mad with desire instead of torture.

Your sweet moonbeam, the smell of you in every single dream I dream. Shine loved the way the cool grass felt on her feet. The swaying bodies of the fey moved in all around her, but there was undeniable happiness in the air, Shine could almost taste it. She twirled, her skirts flying, threw back her head and laughed, something about the night was just so perfect. Well, almost. Shine spun around again and her eyes fell on a figure standing outside the group. Her breath caught in her chest. Oh, God, Seth. Shine hadn't realized until that moment how much she'd missed him. How much she'd been dying to see him, because thinking things like that were dangerous, they could break her.
Shine had frozen for a moment, and then, she took off on light feet and crossed the distance between herself and Seth, threw herself into his arms, laughing. His body was warm and solid, just like she remembered, but a hundred thousand times better. Shine buried her face against him and breathed him in, he smelled so damn good. Now everything was perfect, really perfect. She hadn't let herself hope to see him, not really, because she was so afraid of disappointment. 'Seth.' she sighed, pressing herself close. She scared herself how bad she missed him.
She looked up, into his face. Still as breathtakingly beautiful as she remembered. He looked, if it was possible, even better than he had last time she'd seen him. Shine didn't even know what to begin to say because her brain was still processing the fact that he'd come. Come to see her. Absolute perfection. [/blockquote]

Seth grinned when he saw Shine's eyes find his. He opened his eyes in an invitation from her, and smiled. As she moved toward him, his whole body practically sang with happiness. God, he'd missed her so much. When her body was pressed against his, his arms wrapped around her tightly, grinning at the faerie in his arms. He'd missed her warmth, her sweet touch. Pressing a kiss to the top of her head, he sighed contentedly. "Miss me, Shine?" he asked, murmuring the words, her name sending a thrill through his body. His hat he'd been wearing fell to the ground, and a small sprite had slipped under it, running under it and hiding. He smiled a bit and nudged the hat with his foot, sending the little faerie running with the hat on top of it, making it look like the hat was possessed. He chuckled, kissing her lips gently. "You're a beautiful dancer," he murmured against her lips, touching her hip with one hand, his other arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her whole body against his slender frame.
Seth could hear the silence in the air and knew it was because of him. The music had stopped, and faeries were murmuring to each other, scandalized that a human would dare come to one of their revels. He hated them for that. Looking down at Shine, he smiled. "You mind if I have a dance? I don't remember the last time we danced together, I was so drunk," he told her with an embarrassed laugh. She was the one who'd gotten him drunk, but he felt like it was mostly his fault. He shouldn't have trusted the bar. But if he hadn't, he would probably be holding some bland human girl in his arm instead of this amazing girl. He looked over her shoulder at the faerie who'd been playing the music and offered him a smile. "Could we have a tune, please?" he asked politely. The faerie gave him an odd look, but shrugged and picked up on the exact note he'd left off. Seth swayed a bit to the music before he put his hands on her hips and spun her into the throng of faeries, almost all of them invisible. He had a feeling the musician was invisible, too. He was sealing his fate, slowly, but surely. Almost every faerie who frequented the Modest Mistress knew he could see, so he'd been avoiding that part of town. Oh well. He could handle himself. He'd been doing so for almost six years. one or two more weren't going to hurt, and then he could leave Nevermore.

I knew when we collided you are the one Shine sighed contentedly, she couldn't imagine wanting to be anywhere but right here. She could of laughed when he asked her if she missed him. She wasn't sure missed was a strong enough word for it, but she didn't know how that would sound to say, probably not great, so she settled for something just as truthful, but not quite so, on her opinion, stalkerish, 'Too much.' And she meant it. She hadn't been aware that it was possible to miss someone like that. Shine was acutely aware the silence that had descended behind her, and though it worried her a little, she tried to put it out of her mind. She was friends with these faeries, mostly. They wouldn't do anything, would they? They were in a good mood, so maybe they'd pretend nothing was going on. She tried to convince herself that wasn't just wishful thinking.
Shine could not believe that Seth had talked to the guitarist, Draen. As far as faeries go, he was pretty relaxed, but still. Seth pretended not see them. And now he was just.. ignoring that? Shine let him lead her out. She was still overly happy, she didn't think that would leave her as long as Seth was there, but she was scared for him. Don't do anything stupid for me. she thought. Shine twined her arms around his neck and raised up on her tip toes, whispering in his ear, 'Be careful, please.' Because she didn't think she could bear it if Seth got himself hurt for her. Once had been bad enough, and now, well, she just didn't want anything to happen to him. [/blockquote]

At Shine's words, Seth could only smile at her concern. It tugged at his heart that she was worried about him, even when he wouldn't be. He shouldn't have come to a faerie revel, but he missed Shine too much to really regret coming to her. she'd somehow cast a spell on him that had nothing to do with faerie magic. He pressed his lips close to her ear and murmured, "I'm doing my best, but you're making it hard." He was being honest, too. He couldn't completely blame Shine, but she could handle a bit of the blame, right? He laughed softly and planted a kiss against her cheek. She was too tempting, but he knew that if he so much as thought about touching her in an inapprorpiate place, he'd feel something sharp and painful in his back, like a sharpened tree branch or shard of glass. He really didn't want that to happen and twirled the girl in his arms through the throng. "I really hope you're wearing glamour, sweetheart. Because if you aren't, I'll get a few hot pokers in the eyes," he purred into her ear. If she wanted him to be careful, he'd try his hardest to be.
He felt something brush up against his hip, and a set of clawed hands on his waist. His body reacted almost immediately, freezing up. They faerie holding him laughed into his ear. This was over-stepping his restraint, but he would not look to see what was touching him. It seemed to be ignoring Shine completely, and he felt freezing lips against his throat, sending a shiver of fear up his spine. "Tell it to go. Please, Shine," he pleaded into her ear, smiling as best he could with teeth at his throat and talons much too close to his heart. Every time they met up, Seth seemed to get into a massive amount of trouble or in some sort of dangerous situation. He closed his eyes, willing himself to calm down as nails pricked his skin through the thin fabric of his t-shirt. It was much more terrifying to be touched by one of the fey when he was sober. "He sees us, doesn't he?" the faerie asked Shine, grinning at her and stroking Seth's cheek, leaving the skin split and bleeding.

The way move ain't fair, you know ! Shine couldn't help but to feel an intense rush of concern. She thought most of the faeries would leave Seth alone if she told them too, but what could she really do? For a faerie, she wasn't strong or powerful, like her brother, she was just Shine. Beautiful and lovable yes, dangerous, not so much. So when the faerie swept up behind Seth, she couldn't help but to feel a burst of panic. He'd said he was trying to be careful, but that didn't matter if it didn't help. She knew her heart was racing, but she kept her face calm. She had to be strong for Seth, she had to do her best. She shot the faerie touching Seth an innocent look. 'I have no idea what you're talking about, if he could see you all, do you think he would be here? Honestly, any human who could see you would have run as far away as they could by now. Even a humans attraction to faerie beauty isn't strong enough to make them want to stay once they've seen us.' she whispered to the faerie, careful to make sure it seemed as if she was trying to keep Seth from hearing.
Shine leaned a little closer to the faerie, pressing herself into Seth as she did so. 'Does he look like he can see you?' she hissed, because Seth was doing a remarkably good job of pretending to be unbothered. 'Now leave me alone. It's not like you all don't have your human toys.' Shine tried to put as much disdain in her voice as she could, but it was hard because Seth was so not the same thing as the human toys she was referring to. Shine hoped he didn't believe she meant it. He couldn't believe that. She would never ever think of him that way.
Shine looked up into Seth's eyes, hoping to be able to see what he was thinking from them, but she gained nothing and she looked away because she was so afraid that one of the faeries would notice the look in her eyes when she looked at him. She was afraid one of them would realize how much he meant to her. [/blockquote]

It was hard for Seth to pretend he had no idea who or what Shine was talking about. He gritted his teeth, putting on a confused expression as the faerie in his arms 'talked to air'. He might have laughed if he wasn't so damn scared. He raised an eyebrow at her, but didn't say anything. He could afford to appear understanding. At the very least patient. Even if he'd blown it with the musician, he wasn't going to give a single faerie the satisfaction of him running away in pain and fear. He pulled her closer as she pressed herself against him, hissing her words at the fey pricking his claws into Seth's skin. He whimpered a bit as he felt the claws and teeth ghost across his neck. The faerie laughed, the sound of glass shattering. "Why? 'Tis nothing but a human. they are meant to be enjoyed by all, not one. Let me dance with him. He shall not be fully broken when I give him back to you," he hissed right back, his shark-like teeth grazing Seth's throat, making him swallow reflexively. Most humans did react when they were touched by a faerie, and Seth couldn't help it. "What you gonna do, sick your brother on me, love? I'll play with him if I want to." Another laugh, this time louder, followed by several of the creatures around them. He could feel their heavy breath prickling against his legs and the back of his neck, and he wished them all away. Prayed that they'd disappear.
As Shine looked into his eyes, he smiled a bit, hoping that his fear wasn't making her fear, too. The last thing he wanted was a full-blown panic attack by either of them. "I'm worried about you, spacing off like I'm not here. Pay attention to me, please," he murmured, just to distract himself and make the faeries think he was just a smitten little toy of Shine's. he reached up to touch her face, but one of them caught his wrist. The pixie from his bedroom. He attempted to free his hand, but it just wouldn't let go. To a Sightless human, he'd look like he was just holding his hand up, no one ever noticing the little bruises blooming along where the strong fingers pressed too tight. He made a face, looking at his wrist with a slightly annoyed expression. He glanced over at Shine. 'Help me,' he mouthed, a smile pasted to his face. The larger of the two slipped an arm around Seth's skinny waist, between the two. "What say you, sweetheart? You mind sharing?"

I don't wanna miss a single thing you do,tonight. Shine didn't know how to control the situation, but she had to do something. And she did have one thing on her side, as small as it might be. Actually, if she played her cards right, it just might make all the difference. It wasn't a long term solution, not really, but it would save him for a while. Shine narrowed her huge blue eyes at the faerie gripping Seth. That bastard wasn't getting anything from her or Seth. 'You know the laws, don't you?' Shine questioned him. 'I found him. He's mine if he wants to be. Only mine. All he has to do is say yes and none of you can touch him for a month. He will belong to me. Longer, if he wants at the end of a month.' Shine gave the faerie behind Seth a pretty little smile, 'And I claim him.'
Shine brushed off the faerie constraining Seth's wrist, and pressed her lips to his smooth skin. She could almost feel his pulse through the thin skin on his wrist. When she released his wrist, a thin line of the same silvery skin that stroked her spine, circled his wrist. Her mark on him. Shine felt her heart thud in her chest, but it would mean nothing if he didn't accept her, this. Shine turned back to face him, just now answering his words, 'I'm right here, Seth. I'm not going anywhere else. You want me, don't you?' she asked him. He only had to say yes and they would be safe, if only for a month. [/blockquote]

The faerie with the long talons and teeth sharper than needles pressed the curve of a claw against his jugular vein. His heart beat was much too fast for someone who wasn't supposed to see the fey and be numb to their touch. "I know the laws, but who doesn't break..." the faerie stared, then trailed off as Shine continued to speak. He growled at her and pushed his claw into Seth's neck, making him suck in a breath through his teeth in pain, trying hard not to swallow. "You wouldn't dare. Humans are meant to be enjoyed by all, not just a single of our kind." He glared at her as she spoke to Seth softly, oblivious to the fact that Seth had just heard what he'd said.
Seth didn't really like the idea of being claimed by anyone. It sounded... bad. He wanted to be able to do anything, or one, at anytime he wanted to do it. But if he was Shine's for a whole month... He blushed as he felt her lips on his wrist, making a ring of his skin silver as moonlight. Just like the mark on her spine that he'd kissed the last time he'd seen her. He smiled at the thought, his face still a slight shade of pink. He couldn't just say yes. He did want the protection, but at what cost? He twirled a bit of her hair around his finger, thinking hard. "Yes. Of course I do, Shine. Why wouldn't I?" he asked her sweetly, grinning and pressing a kiss to her mouth. The faerie that had been holding him pulled back in disgust, his fingers smoking as if Seth's skin had burned him. The human smirked to himself and kissed Shine again, whispering, "Thank you," against her lips. The rest of the fey that had been approaching took a few steps back, and the pixie braided its own hair so it wouldn't look embarrassed.
"Now why don't we finish our dance, sweetheart?" Seth asked, spinning the girl in his arms, making his feet carry him light-footed toward the edge of the throng and away from all those creatures. "I owe you my life, I think. I'm not sure how to make it up to you," he whispered into her ear, blushing again, something he did very rarely. "Can you think of anything for me to start with?"

You gave my life direction, a game show love connection we can't deny Shine couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief as the faerie backed away. She didn't want to think what he would have done if Seth hadn't accepted her offer. She didn't think he'd be breathing right now. The thought made a little shiver of horror go through her, and she shrank closer to the comfort of Seth's warmth. His kisses tasted sweet to her, like the rest of the evening didn't matter and she was glad to follow him away from the faeries who were all staring at her, angry. She really wasn't supposed to do that. Sure, she had a right to it, but it wasn't socially acceptable.
Shine hadn't been able to say anything for a little while, her throat felt all blocked up. She hadn't realized just how scared for Seth she had been. But oh, she didn't know what she could have done. She stretched up onto her tip toes, twining her arms around his neck. She smiled, trying to shake off her worry. He was safe. He was really truly protected, if only for a month. It wasn't small magic, she'd used to bind them together. The faeries wouldn't be able to physically hurt him, not while he belonged to her. She tried not to think about the fact that they could still hurt her, though that was against the law.
Shine tried to push it all away, though part of her was already worrying about how Ryk would react when she saw him next. He would have heard the rumors by then. She fixed her gaze, instead on Seth's face, his words, brushing her. How could he make it up to her. She almost laughed at that, living, she wanted to answer, because that's all she'd cared about, but Shine didn't let those words slip out, they seemed too heavy at the moment. Instead she smiled, half flirty, half shy, 'I can think of a few things.' she grinned. Oh, and could she. She could feel her heart-rate pick up and she wondered how just a moment with Seth seemed to do that to her. [/blockquote]

The human was daring to actually come to a fearie revel. Cocky little mortal. The faeries continued to watch the two, most of them scowling at the pair. No one was happy with such a public display as that. Some of them were whispering to each other, snickering. Seth tried his hardest to ignore them. He had to continue to play ignorant, even if Shine had claimed him. He spun her again, watching as her fiery hair whipped up from the movement. She was so beautiful, she was hard to look at. Most of the fey were, but Shine was different. He didn’t want her like he normally wanted girls, just for the sex. He wanted her as a companion. As a Partner. Something more than a one-night stand. He still couldn’t figure out why he’d been so desperate to see her after those two weeks. He shuddered at how lonely he’d felt, how empty. Could it be love? He didn’t know. He’d never experienced it.
Seth smirked at her words, half-flirty half-shy, all seduction to a boy like him. It felt like a lie to be with a faerie that didn’t feel anything malicious toward him. She didn’t want to take his eyes. She didn’t want to hurt him in any way. Shine was an odd little pixie, he could giver her that, but why wasn’t she like the others? It was baffling to say the least. He could see through her glamour, so he knew the draw to her wasn’t from that. She looked so free and innocent , pressed up against him like she was. He leaned in to press a kiss to her mouth, but his finger slipped between them, pressing against her lips. “I have a question or two for you, my sweet,” he murmured, before pecking her on the cheek. He slipped back from her, wrapping his arms around himself, leaning against the half-wall behind him. “If you don’t mind. And please don’t get offended or anything.” He smiled at her sheepishly, blushing.
“Shine, I’m kind of worried… about a few things. Like this,” he spoke softly, pointing to his shimmering wrist. “Can you explain what exactly this is supposed to do to me? I know it protects me from the fey for a month; I’ve seen other faeries do it, but am I not allowed to be with other girls or something.” He bit his lip, blushing, hating to have to ask something like that, especially when Shine was at the other end. It felt wrong and made him feel disloyal. But Seth didn’t date. Ever. “Sorry. I just need to know these kinds of things.” He looked down at his feet. “I know the first time we were together I was hung over and bleeding all over the place.” He winced at the memory, his fingers going to the scars on his hip. “But why to I like you so much? I’m not the kind of person to fall in love with something like you.”
The words he spoke stung him and he wished he could take them back. But that wasn’t possible.

Shine tried her hardest not to worry what she would face when she finally went home, but it pressed against the back of her mind, and she really couldn't ignore it. She'd acted without thinking, protecting Seth, and she didn't regret it, but it had still been a rash thing to do. Oh God. She. Was. So. Freakin. Dead. But then, Seth was pulling her off to the side to talk to her. It didn't seem like that could be good, he looked so serious.
Despite trying not to, Shine felt the pang of his words deep in her gut, but she didn't let it show. She was strong, stronger than anyone had ever given her credit for, and if she knew one thing, it was how to hide pain. She widened her eyes at him, looking perfectly accepting, if somewhat surprised. But, ouch, it did hurt her. 'It's just protection, is all. I mean, if I was a queen it would come with more restrictions, but other than protecting you from faerie touch, it doesn't really do anything. Oh, and it breaks if you attack a faerie first.' Shine smiled at him, all sparkles when she answered.
She would not show him that the words hurt, that it meant anything, because that would be a weakness that could destroy her. 'And as to other girls, you can have as many as you like, as long as you don't try to stop me from having my boys.' She said it so sweetly that she wondered if he'd even understand. She said it innocently too, but she hoped it hurt him just a little, her own personal revenge.
She smiled again, acting as if nothing was wrong whatsoever. And he'd said he felt something for her. The knot that had tied itself up in her stomach eased a little bit. But it was a sort of mixed compliment, like he couldn't quite believe he meant it. 'Your entirely your own, Seth Reynolds. The only claim I have over you is the one that keeps the faeries from ripping you to shreds on the spot.'
Shine bit her lip, thinking, looking away from Seth. He was confusing her so much she didn't know what to say. Oh, she'd known from the first time she'd seen him that he wasn't the boyfriend type and that had been ok, she wasn't exactly the girlfriend type. But somewhere along the way things had gotten more complicated than they were ever meant to be. She wasn't supposed to care this much. She wasn't supposed to hurt so much from those words.
Shine played her game well though, and came up with a light carefree voice when she looked back to him, 'Any other questions?' [/blockquote]
