HUMANS & HUNTERS & SWEET TOOTHS!
Humans are the most basic of the creatures here at Nevermore. There's nothing extraordinary about them. They can can be turned into vampires and werewolves, and faeries find them interesting because they can lie. Some get stolen away in the night by the fey, some get eaten. The are the most vulnerable and weak of the races. Nothing really interesting about them, other than the fact that they're easy to fall in love with. Most can't see the faeries, and don't know that vampires and werewolves even exist. Some are born with the Sight, though, and they've grown up with faeries haunting them every step of the way. The ones with the Sight are hunted, to be killed or blinded. It's best to just look down at your feet and pretend you can't see them, at all. Safer for you and your family. Now hunters are interesting. They're humans, all of them (well, almost all of them). All they want to do is kill everything that isn't human. They train in their Academy near the lake, some hunting in the nearby forest. They all have the sight, either born with it, or given it by sticking their face in faerie bath water. Almost all of them want the creatures dead, and they'll get humans sacrificed in the process. They're skilled in fighting, but not as skilled as a vampire or a werewolf might be. They know how to kill, but the creatures know how to survive. The hunters were founded in the 1600s, before the Salem Witch Trials. Most of the current members are decendents of the preists that took part in the trials. They know better to call the things they hunt witches. But not all of them want the creatures dead. Some of them are in love with a few. Some are half-bloods. They're diterriorating from the inside, but the directors aren't going to give in. They're having the families of the hunters watched to see if there is anything strange going on. And a revolt is being planned by one of the directors, so they no longer trust each other. And trust is supposed to be key.
'Sweet tooths' are humans, captured by the faeries using their addicting food or some sort of magic. They're like pets, willing to do anything for a taste of the magic they use. Truly sighted humans cannot become sweet tooths, because they see right through the glamour, and can't be tempted. Every court has at least one sweet tooth in their hands, to have fun with. Small children are especially liked, but if they get bored, they'll take anyone. This is not something you want to become. On top of being addicted to the fey, the older sweet tooths are addicted to a drug called Never, which gives the humans crude, uncontrollable glamour and magic to use. The sweet tooths are usually utterly helpless Ironside (in the human world), so they only place they really get along well is in Faerie.
