FAERIES!
These creatures aren't the sweet, glittery things you see in movies. These things aren't Tinkerbell. They're dark little being that love making people miserable and making each other miserable. They are miserable creatures, beautiful and grotesque, but mostly dazzling. They are exotic things that have a true form and a human form. They use something called glamour to make them appear human, but something of their true form always shows through, like backward feet or a tail. Sometimes it's just their eyes, though, which resemble jewels, bright, unnatural colors.
There are many different kinds of faeries, from the small, helpful brownies to the intelligent and elite elves. The playable races of fey include the following:
Changelings: Faerie children left behind after a human child is stolen. These kids can be anything from destructive to brilliant. They all have extreme appetites that could match only that of another faeries. Most changelings will go years without figuring out they are a faerie, but after a while, they will, faking their own deaths or going missing. They glamour placed over these fey can't be reversed easily, but bits of the faerie inside stick out, like the fact that the have pointed ears, or upturned eyes, even when neither of their parents do. Some even have wings. But no matter what, they'll always return back to Faerie.
Pixies: All mischief and cunning, pixies (also known as piskies) are one of the most obnoxious and dangerous faeries of the courts. At least mentally. They have no restraint when it comes to their tricks and will drive someone mad slowly just for giggles. Ranging between two feet and the height of a human child, these things are often the faeries that leave their offspring in the place of a human. They often have little bug-like wings sprouting from their backs, but it is unclear if they can actually use them to fly.
Elves: Beautiful, but cruel, if you have the Sight (the ability to see through glamour) these faeries will eventually hunt you down and make your life a living hell, or blind you to put you out of your misery. Elves generally don't have modern names, and this goes for all faeries. They have three names. A true name (e.g. Rath Roiben Rye), a name they use around faeries ( such as Roiben, Ravus, Nicnevin, Mab, Oberon, etc.), and a name they use around humans, which can be modern, like Robin. Elves control the courts and are the most dangerous of all the fey, deadly and mouthwatering. You do not want to be on the opposite end of an elf's wrath.
Kelpies: A ghastly water horse that will entice humans to ride on it's back. If someone is foolish enough to ride it, then the keplie will take them on a terrifying ride before drowning them just to watch them die. Their true form is a grayish black horse with toes instead of hooves. They're skilled in using glamour (also called magic to some) and can take on a human form easily. They have been known to teach changelings glamouring skills for a price. They are malevolent creatures that will do anything for some human to eat.
Nixies: Nixies, also called naiads and nixes, are guardians of freshwater ponds, marshes, and creeks on occasion. They are bound to the body of water that they dwell in, but may leave their pond for a short amount of time. They are commonly spotted alone, but some live in groups, calling each of their members 'sisters', since male nixies are rare. The females may be able to physically transform themselves into males, a process called protogyny, much like certain frogs, which they resemble in their true form. In their human form they are contantly streaming water and their skin is usually pale. Their eyes are glassy, and their lips are full, even as males.
Phooka: "According to legend, the phooka is a deft shape shifter, capable of assuming a variety of terrifying forms. It may appear as a horse, rabbit, goat, goblin, or dog. No matter what shape the phooka takes, its fur is almost always dark.
The pĂșca has the power of human speech, and has been known to give advice and lead people away from harm. Though the phooka enjoys confusing and often terrifying humans, it is considered to be benevolent.
They generally have green eyes, and are very sociable. Like dragons, they have a fondness of riddles, but unlike dragons, they are very sociable. Phookas are witty and have few family members, but hundreds of friends which they enjoy getting together with." Phooka's can take on a human form, from anything between a small child and an old cripple. They'll help humans any way they can, even if it seems like whatever they're saying is complete nonsense.
Trolls: Devious and cunning, trolls are always looking out for little things to eat, from goblins to humans. Most live under bridges, in caves, or dark, damp places. Why? Because the sun will turn them into stone. It won't kill them, they just won't be able to move until the sun goes down. If you make their stone bodies crumble, they will die, though. They are naturals in alchemy, or potion making. They aren't stupid by default, but when they're hungry, they get animal-like and lose their ability to think with their minds. In human form, they generally have distinguished noses and sharp teeth, sometimes even fangs or tusks. Their eyes are bright and their skin is pale or olive. In their natural form, they're over eight feet tall and are horrifying to look at (mostly, anyways), although... love can look past that kind of thing.
