, distinguishing featureshis dark hair and just dangerous looks .
, physical flawshe has bad eyesight when he's human, but good when he's a cat, weird, huh? .
, personal styleLynx likes a lot of different things. He is almost never seen without his lip ring. He's partial to big glasses, which would look dorky on some people, but he somehow manages to pull off. You might see Lynx in anything from skinny jeans and a t-shirt, to a suit. He loves to stand out, so he'll wear whatever it takes to do so.... as long as it still goes together .
, general descriptionLynx is tall and doesn't weigh a lot. The weight that he does have is pure muscle and he owns it. Lynx is much stronger than he looks (comes from being a werecat). He has black hair and pale gray eyes. There's something about him that makes it seem like he can see straight through you. He's got fairly pale skin, but it works for him. He doesn't really care what people think of the way he looks.
Lynx has a unique style to say the least. He doesn't care if people hate the way he dresses; he likes it and that's all that matters. His hair... it's pretty unique too and takes him forever to get to do anything that would be considered "proper" good thing he never tries... Lynx has a habit of wearing big headphones around his neck, which makes people look at him a little strange sometimes. He's been told that he's actually quite hott, but he doesn't try very hard. Some people are just lucky like that.
As a cat, strangely enough, he is not a Lynx. Instead, he turns into black cougar. This tends to surprise people and he likes that about himself. When people ask him about it, he just shrugs, because he didn't name himself...[/ul]

, strengthsgood listener, bad ass, sweet, calculating .
, weaknessesnot strict enough with Dacen, romantic, sometimes too quiet .
, goalsto become a director, to make sure Dacen grows up ok, to find his father... and maybe kill him .
, fearshis mother trying to take Dacen back, that he'll fail at raising Dacen, that no one will take his dreams seriously .
, secretsnot as secure as he appears, used to be an addict .
, personalityLynx has a strange split of personality. In one way, he has had to grow up fast, be the mature adult in his little brother, Dacen's, life. He knows he doesn't always succeed at that, and he feels guilty about it. He wants to be a good influence on his brother, who he knows is extremely smart and talented. He's always tried to do right by him, but he's not really the sort who's good at raising a kid and has allowed Dacen a little more freedom than he probably should have. He works hard to make sure Dacen has the opportunities that he deserves.
Lynx feels blocked in. He's spent his whole life trying to dig Dacen out of the hole that his mother threw them in, that he hasn't had time to focus on his own dreams. He wants to be a movie director badly, and he's talented, but he also knows he doesn't have the money or experience to get started. Lynx is insecure about his ability and shy about letting people see his work. He doesn't like anyone to know how badly he wants it, because if he fails, he doesn't want their sympathy.
Lynx has had a rough life and as a result, has a lot of experience in fights and it's made him a little bit guarded and a little bit rough. He knows how to deliver a beating and he's known how to take a punch for years. He sometimes becomes violent when he's upset. He still has dark urges to fall back into his cycle of being an addict. Sometimes, he almost does, but, so far, he's been able to resist. He has to fight that internal battle every day and sometimes it shows that he's struggling just for air.
On the other hand, Lynx tends to be a sweet, quiet, calculating person. He's a great listener, always willing to hear his friends problems. He'll talk if that's what they need, but he's also willing to just listen. This has been the best thing between him and his brother, because Dacen has always felt like he can tell Lynx everything. Lynx wants to be someone that people will really talk to, who they will show their true inner self too, because he's so afraid to show his to anyone else.
Lynx is a very private person. Almost no one knows about his past. Even Dacen isn't completely aware of all those dark times. Lynx doesn't like to talk about his failures. He really just wants to move on. But, in truth, he would kill to have someone to love and confide in.[/ul]

, history Yael Starr was one of those girls who ended up pregnant right out of high school. Her boyfriend, Quill, stuck around, and people seemed to think that maybe things would turn out ok for them. They couldn't be more wrong. Quill didn't really want to get married. He said he wasn't really ready for that. Yael didn't push him, because she didn't want him to leave. She hadn't thought he'd stay after he found out. When their baby boy was born, they named him Lynx, which Yael thought was appropriate because she was a werecat who turned into a lynx. They decided that his last name should be Starr, like his mother. Things really did seem ok.
Up until the time Lynx turned 5, things seemed to be working out. Sure, his family never had money, he went to be hungry a lot, but his dad was still around; his mom seemed happy enough. Then, Yael got pregnant again and, this time, Quill disappeared. He said it had been hard enough for him, paying for one child, he didn't want to go through that again. Yael was heartbroken when she gave birth to her second boy, who she named Dacen Starr.
Things got really hard after that. Yael never had enough money for the boys and so she started working as a prostitute. Dacen, who was still a baby at this point, was, of course, completely unaware, but Lynx knew all about his mother's job. He hated her for it.
They moved around a lot, after that, skipping from one shitty apartment to the next. Life wasn't good. Lynx hated his mother for her job and he hated his father for leaving. He loved his little brother, but he felt useless to help him. He was only a kid, after all, so what could he do?
When Lynx was 12, he fell into gang life. He joined up with a small time local gang, running drugs and other illegal items. He found he had a great talent for deception and became extremely talented at parkour, which got him well known in the area. His werecat abilities that transferred over to his human form made him something of a prodigy. He was known all up and down the bad side of town by the time he was 13.
It was while he was 13 that he fell into the drugs. He doesn't even like to talk about what he was on, but he became badly addicted. He lived for the next fix. His gang life even fell to the side compared to the drugs. All that mattered was the drugs. Nothing else. Lynx was wasting away before he was even grown.
About halfway through his 13th year, Lynx's mother up and left. Dacen was only 8. Lynx was hit with cold reality when he realized that he was now responsible for a child and he wasn't even half a grown up. He was useless, helplessly addicted and completely absorbed. He knew, though, that he had to do something if he wanted Dacen to survive. In some ways, his mother leaving was a blessing, because it gave Lynx new strength and purpose.
Lynx knew there was no way he was going to make an honest living to support himself and a child, so he did the only thing he could, and returned to his gang life. This time, however, he was no content to be the bottom of the pack. Lynx started his own gang, called the cats which consisted of street kids talented at parkour and good thieves. It didn't take long for Lynx's gang to be known all over Chicago.
By the time Lynx was 15, he became known as The Cat. He was dangerous, his gang was dangerous, and no one messed with them. Still, Lynx struggled to kick the drugs. He knew, if he ever hoped to be something more, he would have to get over it once and for all. He tried his best to shelter Dacen from the sort of life that he had. He made sure that Dacen stayed out of drugs and gangs, which Dacen took better than Lynx would have.
When Lynx turned 17, he could officially call himself clean. It had taken five years of his life that he knew he would never get back, but he had beaten his disease and he never planned on going back. He started focusing more on his art and his desire to become a director. It was a hope he had never shared with anyone. None of the cats even knew about his dream. He was very quiet about his work, not liking the attention. Instead, he made all of the attention about Dacen.
Lynx realized that Dacen was extremely smart, maybe genius smart and had a lot of potential, more than Lynx had ever had. He wanted to make sure that Dacen had everything that he had never gotten. Because of this, Lynx decided to move them to a smaller town, somewhere new, where there wasn't all the history following them around. He decided on Nevermore and he and Dacen moved there two months before Lynx's 18th birthday.
Lynx had to leave his gang life and family when he moved. They were unhappy to see him go, knowing half of their power came from their leader alone. They occasionally show up in Nevermore, attempting to convince him to move back. But Lynx doesn't want to go back to Chicago where he lived a miserable childhood.
When Dacen turned 13, he told Lynx that he thought he was gay. Lynx loved his brother and had no problem with that, though he knew some of the cats didn't like that. It was part of the reason he never wanted to go back to them. If they didn't accept his brother, they didn't accept him. Lynx vowed to always take care of Dacen, even though he knows he let's him have a little more free reign than he probably should.
Lynx is now living to fulfill his dream of becoming a director and making sure Dacen does something with all his natural ability. Also, Lynx wants to find a girl who will accept him and who he could confide his past to. Lynx feels so alone a lot of the time.[/ul].

Shine heard the faint sound of big wolf paws hit the ground as the werewolf approached her. She had to hold back a tiny smile as he nudged at her, a sort of whimper coming out of his throat. Shine felt as if she was dealing with a pet dog, instead of a werewolf. She sat up, looking at him. Werewolves were so big, and she was already small for a girl. She thought he looked like he could eat her in one bite, but she wasn't afraid of him. There's was something kind of sweet about the apologetic way he was looking at her. Shine let a small smile escape her lips, 'Oh, don't look like that! I guess I forgive you.' Shine admitted. Without even thinking about it, she reached out one hand and touched the werewolf's shoulder. She thought he felt so big and strong compared to her and she was just so curious because she'd never felt werewolf fur before. Maybe it was stupid, but Shine had always been a little bit wild, didn't always think before she acted. Werewolf fur, she discovered, was actually very soft. Shine smiled at the boy again, but pulled her hand away, because it probably wasn't a very smart move in the first place. She raised her eyebrows, 'So, do you know why you're here? Because there's usually a good reason to be here. This place... it helps things.' She wasn't entirely sure the werewolf would answer, because to actually speak, he'd have to shift back, but Shine had a feeling she'd understand him, even if he didn't use words. It was like he was someone she'd known for a long time, she thought, which was weird, because Shine didn't know many werewolves; Ryk didn't like them very much, or so it seemed.
She leaned back against the rock, closing her eyes. She could hear the breaths of the werewolf close by, and it was relaxing, the sun warming her right down to her bones. A beautiful day and a beautiful moment exactly what she needed. Shine took a deep breath, releasing it in an almighty sigh. She wondered when life had gotten so complicated. Maybe it had never been simple, but suddenly it seemed like this giant net wrapped around her and the more she struggled, the harder it was to get off. Shine cracked open an eye and peered at the werewolf. She wondered what he looked like in his human form. Who was he? Nevermore wasn't very big, so she wondered if she would recognize his human face. Probably. And that was strange too, she thought, how you could live in a small city and not really know very many people who lived there. How you could know all the faces, maybe even all the names, and never know the real story behind it all. Shine thought that was the story of Nevermore.[/ul]
` are there giants too, in the dance?
This application was made exclusively for Nevermore by Maura Lee Bee. Steal it, and I will release the hounds when you least expect it. And they're not cute little puppies either. They are ravenous beasts because I constantly forget to feed them. They bite, by the way. And love flesh. Don't make me release the hounds. O _ O
