Jeremy's shoes crunched dead grass under him as he walked. His hands in his pockets and his eyes on the ground, he sighed as the crickets and wildlife in the forest beyond the hills rang in his sensitive ears. The night sky was full of stars everywhere and Jeremy would glance up every now and then, thinking and thinking and never stopping. Scratching his head briefly, he thought about the last time he had seen Monique, which had been quite a while back. It seemed everytime they saw each other now, they would both blow up at one another and then kiss and make-up - literally. Their meetings had become awkward and messy and they would never get anything done, as far as their dilemmas with their families. They both just seemed so confused, at least he knew he was.
And he wanted to see her so badly, but his parents had forbade him. He might have been old enough to decide for himself, but he wondered if Mona even wanted to see him, and those thoughts always stopped him from trying to see her. Sighing out loud again, he pulled the thing out of his pocket that he carried and even sometimes wore everyday, the only thing besides memories that he had of her. Stopping for a moment, he looked down at the silver bows that glittered back the stars. Realizing he had entered a large patch over the hill filled with lively green grass under him, he sat down and slipped on the delicate bracelet. It looked sort of funny, a girly bracelet on a manly wrist, but it almost sort of looked right at the same time, like it didn't mind being there at all. So Jeremy thought more about Monique as he sat back and rested on his hands on the cool green grass.

She had to run, to get away from it all. Her parents were driving her crazy, setting her up with other alpha males from other wolf packs. Mona was ready to lose her mind, as she ran from the house and didn't stop running until she was clear of houses and heading towards the hills of Nevermore. Mona stopped as she reached one of them and stood there for a moment, slightly breathing heavily. She turned a bit to look behind her, as if they'd come running after her. Though, knowing of her mother, she'd probably do just that.
Shaking her head, Mona looked ahead of her and continued to walk further across the hills. She glanced up to the stars, a small smile to her lips as she looked towards them. It was quiet out here, with only the sounds of nature around her. She could hear some animals scurrying away as they caught scent of her, though she'd never harm any of them, they apparently didn't know that.
Looking back at eye level, Monique kept walking, until a scent hit her smack in the face. She stopped dead in her tracks as she knew the scent all to well and it caused an ache to start in her chest. Her blue eyes search around until she saw the shape of someone sitting, letting out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding, Mona moved slowly towards him, stopping a few feet away from him "H-Hi."

Jeremy stretched his legs out, hoping his jeans wouldn't pick up the green pigments of the grass. His mother would give him hell for getting grass stains on his pants and it would just be another reason for her to yell at him. Pulling his legs back up halfway, he rested his arms at the elbows on his knees and laid his forearms on top of one another. He would glance at the forest, then the sky, then the grass, and would just smell the wind as it blew at him. It was a beautiful night, and he couldn't help but think it would be even better if Monique was there. Maybe things would have more color, then.
As if prayers were answered so quickly, the wind changed course and blew sideways at him and his nostrils couldn't help but pick up the familiar but misplaced scent in the air. His eyebrows furrowed for a moment before he discovered why he knew the scent so well. Swallowing and blinking as he heard the padding of her feet as she approached him, obviously having probably smelled him as well. He wanted to savor the moment and only turned to look at her, unsurprised, when she spoke. Looking up, he smiled gently and returned the greeting.
"Hi."

Mona returned the smile back to him as she stood there for a moment. It had been a while since the two of them even saw each other, she had heard that his parents forbade it and apparently her own parents felt the same way, telling her to never see him again, that he was trouble and not good enough for their daughter.
Shuffling her feet a bit, she moves closer before sitting down indian style on the ground next to him. Her eyes moved to the grass, as she gently plucked at them while silence came between the two of them. Monique wasn't really sure what to say to him, she felt awkward, but yet at the same time, she didn't. Jeremy happened to be something familiar, something known to her.
As she lifted her head up to look at him, something glinting caught her eye and she tilted her head and reached out with a hand to grab his and looked at the bracelet on his wrist. Mona frowned a bit, why did that look so familiar. As she thought about it, she remembered trying to find a bracelet of hers not so long ago. She looked up at him, raising an eyebrow "Is that my bracelet?" she asked him, nicely. Honestly, she couldn't find it in her to even be upset or even angry with him. That part of her was so tired of that.

It seemed almost surreal to see Monique, her beautiful figure standing in the moonlight. Jeremy's smile had faded and he couldn't help but just stare at her in wonder. Her small dress complimented her skin and popped with a girly cuteness he was attracted to. He watched her as she came slowly closer and sat down on the grass beside him. The hem of her dress came up on her leg and Jeremy quickly removed his eyes, not wanting his animal instincts to get the better of him. Seeing her hands moving out of the corner of his eye, though, he peered to see her casually plucking out blades of grass in the somewhat awkward silence and he sighed lightly as he looked at the dark horizon.
When Jeremy first felt Monique reach out for his hand, he thought she wanted to hold it and he almost slipped his fingers through hers. Fortunately, her question came out before he had the chance and he smiled sheepishly; her voice hadn't sounded at all angry. "Yeah. I kind of took it the last time we saw each other," Jeremy admitted. And he couldn't help but reach over with his other hand and remove the bracelet from his wrist to clasp it on hers, handling her fragile wrist very gently.

As she thought more about it, Mona realized that the next day, she had been looking for that bracelet and was a bit dumb-founded as to why she couldn't find it. It had been there, somewhere, she was sure of it. But as she watched him place the bracelet back onto her wrist, she pushed that thought away and looked up at Jeremy. She'd come to realized that his touch was different from the guys her parents were trying to get her to be with. His was gentle and well..caring. "I was wondering where it went to." she said softly, as she stared towards him.
Her mind began to reel, what if calling off the wedding with him ended up being a big mistake. Monique knew this gentle side of Jeremy, this caring side. Though she only knew it for a short time, she knew it was always there. Chewing her bottom lip slightly, she gently pulled her hand away and rested it in her lap as she looked away from him to look back towards the night sky "So, how have you been?" she asked him, keeping her eyes on the sky.

Jeremy wanted to let his fingers linger on her utterly soft skin, but resisted enough to remove his hands once he had the bracelet safely clasped. His hands felt empty, though, so he began picking at the grass. Only after a minute did he look at Monique to see they had resorted to each other's previous leisurely actions. He smiled lightly for only a moment and looked back to his fingers and stopped ripping the blades out. Propping one knee up and letting the other lay parallel to the ground, he rested back on one hand and laid his other forearm on the propped knee.
Hearing Mona's voice made Jeremy look over at her while her eyes stayed on the starry night above them. He took the chance to just stare at her again, for a moment. Her silhouette contrasted against the black of the forest and horizon made her seem almost surreal and he sighed lightly. But realizing he had taken a little longer than normal to answer, he cleared his throat and looked to the sky as well. "Considering my parents are set on finding someone else for me very quickly," he said, laughing only one short throaty sound. "Not so bad." Jeremy smiled and looked at Monique, but erased the smile and became a bit more serious.
"How are you?"

Mona stayed looking up towards the night sky, while hearing Jeremy's answer. It was until he asked her how she was, that she looked back towards him to see a serious look about him. It touched her a bit to see that he really wanted to know how she was doing. This man seemed to surprise her more and more each time they ran into each other.
Shaking her head a bit, Monique laughed softly as she shrugged her shoulder a bit "Besides my mother driving me crazy with these weird guys she keeps setting me up with.." she smiled lightly as she stared across the small space between them at him "I'm doing okay." and she truly meant it. Especially now. To be sitting here with someone familiar. Someone she knows.
