Mona still clung to Jeremy as she listened to his words. She knew that was what she needed to do, but it just felt so useless anymore. She did feel as if she had no fight left inside of her, but at the feel of Jeremy in her arms, she felt a very tiny spark of hope inside of her, but she didn't dwell on it long. Monique was sure she couldn't handle getting that tiny spark blow out right now.
Opening her eyes, Monique stared up at Jeremy and couldn't help but to smile just the tiniest as he brushed tears and hair away from her face. She felt her breath catch just a bit as he leaned down closer to her and three whispered words left his lips before they touched her own. The woman felt her stomach do a flip, her heart jump around crazily inside her chest, almost to the point of pounding out of her chest. Mona closed her eyes and kissed him back, her fingers dug a bit into the back of his shirt into his back as she clung once more to something so familiar to her. After a few moments, she pulled away to stare up, a bit breathless "I love you Jeremy. And I regret the day I said I would never marry you."

Jeremy was a bit shocked by the impact of Monique. She seemed almost desperate as she kissed him and he felt her hands digging in his back. He smiled into the kiss. But he still felt absolutely horrible for doing what he did to Monique. Leaving her without warning was probably the worst thing he could have ever done. Parting from her and looking down as she spoke, Jeremy's smile faded slowly into a small frown, his eyes even appearing saddened. He knew he treated her so badly. He was young and immature, and needy. All he wanted was Monique and his goal blinded him. It shortly reminded him of a Shakespeare character but he thought of it no longer. "No. You shouldn't have married me back then, anyways. I was a horrible person."
But now, Jeremy began wondering. Now, he wasn't such a bad person - in his opinion anyways. And he loved Monique, and now she loved him back. Would it be possible to bring this up to her parents? What would they say about her being in love with a man she was supposed to marry in the first place? Jeremy wasn't so keen on jumping into marriage so quickly, but if it saved Monique from another, unwanted marriage, then he would be all for it. Jeremy had been staring at the ground all the while, his mind obvious working out something. Smirking, he looked at Monique. "I've got an idea."

Monique tilted her head a bit to the side. She thought over his words and thought a bit about. She knew it was true, the man had destroyed a kitchen during one of their arguments. Mona nodded a bit, as she chewed lightly at her bottom lip "I guess so.." she said, but there was a small part of her that regretted it. Then she at least she wouldn't be in this situation. She would of probably still had some fight in her and who knows..maybe they would of gotten to this moment now..loving each other.
She pushed those thoughts away, as she watched Jeremy, but he was looking down at the ground. Mona knew him to be thinking, she had seen him like that a few times. When he looked up at her, with that smirk and his words. She got a little bit of a confused look to her face, as she stared up at him "What do you mean?" these were one of these days that Mona wished she had the ability to read minds, so she could know what was going through that head of his.

Jeremy mulled over the idea and thoughts that ran through his mind. Would it be too much too soon? More recently, Jeremy would overthink things instead of not thinking of them at all, so now it took a bit longer before he responded to Monique's questioning. What if she loved him, but not that much? Would she choose him in the option he was about to give her? Realizing he couldn't wait much longer, he took both her hands in his, kissed her gently, and went down on one knee.
He only briefly thought about this moment in time where his whole life may have changed whichever way Monique answered. He knew he was taking a huge risk, but Jeremy felt he could deal with the rejection rather than having not brought up the question at all. He realized it was better to regret his words than his silence. "Well, since it seems you must marry someone, and your current fiance seems out of the question," Jeremy spoke hurriedly and nervously, though took a deep breath before continuing, looked deep into her depthless eyes, and slowed his words. "Monique Bailey Quentin, wil you marry me instead?"

Monique wasn't sure at all what it was that was going on through Jeremy's head. She wished she knew, she wish she knew to what it was that he was taking his time to think over with. She smiled a bit when he held her hands in his own and kissed her, Mona kissed him back. But her breath caught in her throat as she watched him get down on one knee. She had seen this happen once to her already, possibly even more than once, but she found herself not being able to really comprehending, at least a part of her couldn't.
Monique felt the tears burn into her eyes right when he began to speak in a bit of a rush. A slight small laugh came from her lips as she stared down at him, hearing the words that she had wanted to hear that first time she had fallen in love with the man. But she didn't answer right away, but the smile stayed upon her lips as a tear slipped down her face. It wasn't that she was upset, she was beyond happy. but she had to really make sure this is what she wanted. As Mona looked deep inside of herself, she knew that this was definitely what she wanted. Her smile spread wide across her lips into a huge grin as she threw her arms around Jeremy, and kissing him deeply before answering him with a breathless "yes, yes yes."

From the moment Jeremy even took the action of going down on one knee, Monique seemed to become incredibly emotional, which was hard for him to handle. At first, her tears immediately made him want to hold her to stop crying, but what if they were tears of joy? Then, he felt very nervous and almost didn't continue with his engagement, but pressed on and tried blocking out worrysome thoughts about how she might react to him actually proposing to her.
After the words came out, though, Jeremy felt much better, like he had had to get that off his chest and finally did. And this was the moment he knew would take ages and ages to get through - and it did. He felt as if everything was in slow motion, that every emotion was magnified times a thousand. And it still hurt to see Monique crying so he just hoped they were tears of joy. And when her answer came, it was so surreal that Jeremy was in shock for a whole three seconds as he embraced and kissed her. But once it hit him, he squeezed her harder and kissed her with more passion than before. Picking her up slightly off the ground with the exuberance he felt, he was only able to manage to get out a few words in his emotional state.
"I love you, Monique."

Mona found herself lost in the moment. It was all a bit surreal to her. There had been a time in her life when she would of never thought she could of loved this man as much as she did again. They had always been at each other throats before, always arguing, no matter what, even if they had tried to be civil towards each other. But now..now that she had gotten to be able to feel the lost of him, she really knew deep down that she loves Jeremy Hills, that she wanted to marry him and run the pack with him.
Small giggles left her lips, when he picked her up, she kissed him right back with the same passion he was giving her. Monique felt more tears run down her face, but she knew them to be tears of joy. There really was no words for her to express how she was feeling, to even begin to explain seemed to be impossible. When she heard those four little words, she felt her heart flutter inside of her chest "Oh Jeremy. I love you so much." she whispered, framing his face with her hands as she pressed her lips to his, kissing him with as much love as she could.

It was at times like these Jeremy wondered how corrupt a world could be when it was so full of love. But then he remembered it was his own world that was now so full of love. He thought briefly of how lucky he was, to have the most beautiful girl in all eternity say so enthusiastically "yes" to marrying him, when it seemed only yesterday she hated him with all the fire in Hades. Now, both had an equal love that Jeremy himself could not even comprehend and didn't worry to. He wondered though, still, how her parents might take the news...
But Jeremy made the idea leave his mind as soon as it had come. This had been the happiest moment of his life so far, and he was not about to ruin it. Setting Monique down momentarily, their lips still endlessly connected. He released some of the grip around her waist to just casually hold her close to him. He swayed a bit with her, just staring at her, in the utterly perfect moment. And so predictably, humor impulsively spilled out of him.
"So. Want to go look at wedding cakes again?"

Mona felt her feet touch the ground again, but she still kept a hold of Jeremy, for fear that she may not be able to stand up on her own at the moment. She was beyond giddy and a little weak in the knees because of all of this. She smiled up at Jeremy, a laugh coming from her lips at hearing what he wanted to do. The girl shook her head a bit, as she looked up at the man she was going to finally marry "If I remember correctly the last time we tried to look at wedding cakes, it didn't end so well." she teased, as she went up on tip-toes to kiss him lightly "But, I think it'll be different." she said softly, as she beamed happily up at him.
Monique pulled away from him, linking their hands together "You know.." she began, as she started to walk, pulling Jeremy along with her "We are going to have to tell my parents..and your own. I'm not real sure how well this will go over." plus she had to tell the guy she was suppose to marry that she was calling it all off. Mona looked down at her left hand with the ring on it and sighed, as she looked away from it. She didn't want to hurt the guy, but she just couldn't marry him when she was in love with the man right next to her.

Jeremy laughed a light short laugh when Monique mentioned that the last time they went out for a wedding cake, that it did not, in fact, end well. Of course they both knew that this time would be different. He kissed her shortly and smiled down at her, moving hair out of her face. Her eyes were bright with a previous adrenaline rush they both seemed to have experienced when he proposed. Taking her hands when she let go, he followed her lead in walking. Going back to the road and sweeping up his fallen backpack as he passed by, Monique spoke.
Jeremy rubbed the back of his neck as she spoke, having previously thought of that but was not so sure what to do about it. His parents would be overjoyed by both the fact that he would be home, but even more so when they found out him and Monique would be marrying for sure. "Well, I know mine will be more than happy when I tell them, but..." The condition of Monique's house he last left it in was unforgivable, but he hoped her parents would contradict that. They seemed to have loved him before, so maybe they still would. "The kitchen incident may have cost me their trust, huh?" he asked her, grimacing a bit with the memory of his rage.

Monique smile at hearing that his parents would be happy about it all, but she really wasn't sure how they was going to react to this news. When he mentioned about the incident in her kitchen, she winced a bit, as that night came clearly to her mind. Mona let out a small sigh and shook her head "That was one of our worse nights." she told him, as she looked up at him with a small frown "I honestly couldn't even tell you why it all started either." she admitted. Then again, most of their arguments she couldn't even remember why they would get started. But then, it was just the main fact that they were forcing her to marry someone she didn't want to.
As Mona thought, she found herself laugh and shaking her head at herself "Who would of thought that I'd still end up marrying you. After everything." she said, with a small smile, she looked up at him again, giving his hand a small squeeze "I guess I just love stubborn guy." she teased a bit.

Jeremy let out a small sigh when Monique marked it as their worst night ever, which was so very true. And he had been the cause of it all. In fact, he had been the cause of most all their fights because he would always blow up to Monique about her attitude. But it had never ever been her fault. She was the one who had gotten trapped in a relationship she never wanted and that Jeremy thought he wanted. He knew he had been so shallow and close minded before he left, and he felt like a completely different person looking at his past self.
But Jeremy smiled when Monique mentioned marrying him. Really, it seemed like such a shock that both of them seemed to have equally hated each other so much, and now they loved each other more than ever. His eyes narrowed a bit and he smirked when Monique mentioned loving a stubborn guy. "Touche."

Mona giggled slightly, as they continued to walk their way back towards the town. She knew this could be bad, her holding hands with Jeremy, when some of the people within the town knew that she was to be marrying someone else. Of course, she really didn't care. Mona had a feeling in her gut that her mother would end up finding out about her walking around with Jeremy before she could even tell her that she was going to marry him instead of the other.
But as she glanced up towards Jeremy once more, she knew she wouldn't care what anyone thought or said about her or either of them. Mona was happy, more happy than she had ever been for a long time and she wasn't going to allow anyone to get in her way. If she had to, she'd suggest to Jeremy to leave again..but then she might feel bad for taking him away from his family when he only just got back. "I think we should tell your parents first. We can save the bomb from my parents for last." she suggested. Figuring they could go for a bit of more happiness before they had to deal with her own parents.

Once again, Jeremy and Monique began walking back into town on the dirt road. Unknowingly, they both began thinking and worrying about the same things. Firstly, since Nevermore was in fact a small town and everyone knew everyone, someone their parents knew were bound to see them holding hands, or just purely being with each other because Monique was engaged to someone else. At the same time, Jeremy glanced down at her as she glanced up at him. Breathing a short laugh as he grinned, he took his hand out of hers to put his arm around her shoulder and kiss the top of her head.
After they looked at each other, Jeremy could now feel both of their tension and anxiety about the whole subject. And he held her close. Speaking her idea out loud, Jeremy smiled again and breathed another short laugh. "I agree," he said, kissing her forehead. "I think I'd like a few more hours to live."

Mona leaned a bit into him when he put his arm around her shoulder. She was just all warm and fuzzy on the inside. A way she had wanted to feel for so long with someone like Jeremy in her life. She looked down at her left hand and pulled the ring off, shoving it into her pocket. There was no point in having it on, when she was going to give it back to him once she found it in her to tell him and her parents the news. She just hoped that Jeremy would be there with her the whole way.
Slipping her arm around his waist, holding him close to her "I agree with that." she said with a small laugh. Mona could only imagine what her parents would do..not so much her father, but it was mainly all her mother. She could hear her mother now, saying how much of a disappointment this is to her, that all Mona is doing is just going to go through the same thing as last time, that her and Jeremy are just going to end up fighting and then she will want out of the marriage and blah blah blah. Monique shook her head as she sighed softly and stared ahead of her "I really hope we know what we are doing." she said softly, chewing her bottom lip some.
